14-year-old boy shot while attempting to set fire to Gorham home

GORHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A 14-year-old boy is recovering after police say he was shot while attempting to set fire to a home in Gorham Friday night.

Police say people were home at their residence on Mount View Drive around 11:45 p.m. when the boy attempted to burn the house.  A homeowner and witness interrupted the arson attempt and shots were fired at the boy who sustained non-life threatening injuries.  He was taken to Maine Medical Center to be treated.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed yet.  Gorham Police say they believe they have identified all parties involved and say the public is not in any danger from the people involved in the incident.
