(NEWS CENTER) -- The shooting in Colorado has brought back painful memories for a woman in Cumberland County.
Dayna Klein survived a shooting six years ago at her former workplace in Seattle, Washington. Klein told NEWS CENTER she couldn't believe it had happened again.
Klein was working at a Jewish Community Foundation in Seattle when a man walked in and started shooting. One person was killed . Five were wounded...including Dane Klein herself. At the time she was five months pregnant.
Dayna Klein was shot in the arm..and still undergoes physical therapy to overcome the damage done by the bullet.
She also helped save lives. After the gunman warned people not to call police, Klein -- who was already wounded -- crawled to a phone and did just that.
And when the guman confronted her she handed him the phone.
The 911 operators eventually talked him into giving up.
Today, Klein is raising her child in Maine, and still has emotional and physical scars.
"I have been working for the past several years since the time of the shooting with wonderful therapists and others who have done a wonderful job helping me learn how to live with what happened, the shooting that happened in Seattle," said Klein. "I still have nightmares about it, still have things that trigger memories."
"I didn't think it could happen in Seattle, Washington, I didn't think it could happen in a movie theater. But I also at the same time have hope about the kind of America I want to live in, which is one where I feel safe to leave the house every day. Thank goodness that wins out every time."
