WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Susan Collins says officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will visit Penobscot and Piscataquis counties next week to determine if the area qualifies for emergency assistance because of last month's storms.

Collins says the FEMA officials will tour Brownville, Milo, and Patten on Monday to assess damage caused by the storms.

Thunderstorms that swept through the area June 24 caused flooding and left one person dead in Piscataquis County.

Collins is a member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee. She toured the damage on July 2.
