PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Three regional transportation programs in Maine are receiving more than $1.3 million in funding from the Federal Transit Administration.

The FTA says the Aroostook Transportation System is getting $735,000 for vehicle replacements and for a new roof on its maintenance garage. The Western Maine Transportation Services is getting $388,000 for new vehicles, while the Waldo County Action Partners is receiving $180,000 for new vehicles.

In announcing the grants, U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud said the new vehicles will save on energy costs, be good for the environment and provide safe and reliable transportation.
