MAPLETON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Rescue crews have recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned last night while swimming in Hanson Lake in Mapleton in Aroostook County.

The Maine Warden Service says Randy Muir, from Presque Isle, was out at the lake with three friends.
Wardens say he had been drinking and around 10:30 PM Friday, he tried to swim across the lake.
Witnesses told wardens he made it a considerable distance before calling for help.

Crews went out Saturday to search the land around the lake and to search the waters as well.

Hanson Lake is particularly murky, and divers had to stay within three feet of each other to avoid getting lost.

Muir's body was found in about 20 feet of water this afternoon.
