SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Scarborough rescue crews say heat and alcohol made for a dangerous combination at an outdoor concert.
Tuesday's "music at the track" concert at Scarborough Downs was headlined by rap artist Wiz Khalifa.
Shortly after six, rescue crews were called in when people began showing signs of excessive dehydration. Scarborough Fire Chief Michael Thurlow says some thirty people passed out, 20 were evaluated at the venue and six were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Thurlow says his crews had prepared for such an event but had also hoped that they wouldn't have to use their training.
They were assisted by nearby rescue agencies.
There were no serious interruptions to the concert.
