BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- For many kids, summer camp might mean boating, or swimming, or campfires, but not for the kids at the Penobscot Theatre Company theatre camp. It is all about acting.
For the last three weeks, these campers have been hard at work memorizing their lines and learning where they need to be on stage for their plays. All of the shows will take place at the Penobscot Theatre Company. The director of education and outreach for the theatre said once camp is over, the kids will have learned a lot of skills they can take with them.
"They're doing Shakespeare work and they're looking at scripts so they're working on English all summer. We trick them into looking at literature and you know working with those sorts of things, and problem solving skills and working together and just their confidence builds," Director of education and outreach Jasmine Ireland said.
There will be performances on Saturday at the Penobscot Theatre Company. Show times are 1 p.m. 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for adults. For more information about the shows and summer camp visit www.penobscottheatre.org
