PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Maine Lobster World Series Championship concluded its three day competition and awarded Maine native Chris Gould $5,000 and the Shucks Golden Buoy.

Shucks Maine Lobster hosted the first annual Maine Lobster World Series. According to Portland Mayor Michael Brennan, Shucks Maine Lobster processing plant is the only one in the United States that uses pressurization to extract raw lobster meat from its shell.

The best lobster Chefs from the European Union, Asia, and US were brought to Portland to compete. As part of the competition, the Chefs were taught to catch their own Maine lobster and then use pressurization to get the meat they needed for their dishes.

Chris Gould is from Bethel, Maine. His winning dish was butter basted lobster with sweet corn and miso puree, roasted fingerling potatoes, hay and cinnamon smoked carrots and a pacquiao pepper sauce.

Gould says he is going to use the $5,000 prize for his honeymoon in 3 weeks, and to open a restaurant in Portland.
