Westbrook man in critical condition after 295 crash

BOWDOINHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A man from Westbrook is in critical condition after being thrown from his vehicle in a crash on I-295 in Bowdoinham.

In a news release, Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says Larry Huff was driving south when he lost control of the van he was driving. The van struck a center guard rail, crossed both lanes of traffic and stopped by the trees along the roadside.

The van did not flip, but Huff was thrown out the passenger side door due to the force of the impact.

Huff was not wearing his seatbelt.

He was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

McCausland there was another man in the car, Haze McDougal of Portland. McDougal was wearing his seatbelt and had only minor injuries.
