Autumn arrives this Saturday, and it appears conditions will stay mostly tame as we count down the last days of summer (sniff.) Look for some sunshine on Friday, with a frontal boundary backing into Northern New England from our east. As that front approaches look for some cloud cover, with the most clouds in easternmost counties.
Same deal for Saturday; most of Maine will see at least some sunshine, with thicker cloud cover to the east with a risk of showers as that frontal system will hang around through most of the day. That front will eventually slide to our east, followed by another front-this time moving in the more traditional direction (from our west.) That front will move through Sunday, so look for morning clouds with scattered showers, with a brighter sky developing Sunday afternoon. High pressure will stick around long enough to bring plenty of sunshine on Monday.
