VALENCINA, Cal. (KNBC) - A 19-year-old California man is hospitalized after falling from a water park ride at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.

The accident happened around 4:15 Sunday afternoon on the Black Snake Summit ride.

Authorities say the man cut in line and raced past lifeguards before jumping on the slide head first.

Witnesses say he fell to the ground about half way down the Venom Drop slide, part of the multiple-slide attraction.

A park spokeswoman says the man was not cleared to go down the slide and had not received instructions to position himself feet first.

Black Snake Summit stands at 75 feet, and its longest slide is 650 feet long.
