Family promotes local food on Open Creamery Day

CUMBERLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- All across the state Sunday, dairy farmers opened their doors to give the public a glimpse into the creamery business.

Sunflower Farm Creamery just started making goat cheese a couple of years ago. Owners Hope and Chris Hall originally just got a couple of goats for their daughters. Soon, it turned into a full-blown business, with a heard of nineteen goats and a line of goat cheese products. They sell the cheese at nearby orchards and markets. Hope Hall says she's proud to be part of the local food movement.

"We'd like to sell our cheese as close to home as we possibly can so the people eating it can know that they're right next door, and they can come and visit the goats anytime and see the cheese kitchen and the milking room" Hall said.
