CORINNA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- Each year many people like to take a walk through the massive corn maze at Thunder Road Farm. This year its stalks were cut down to shape a pretty special message.

Farm owners choose breast cancer awareness as this year's theme for the maze. They took months to plan a design for the field. Paths through it are shaped to form a breast cancer ribbon, the tree of life as well as the profile of a woman.

This year the farm teamed up with Eastern Maine Medical Center. It donated a day's worth of proceeds from the corn maze to cancer treatment programs at E.M.M.C. Farm owners say the impression the maze has left on some visitors has been the true reward.

"Breast cancer survivors showed up just to thank us for doing this," said Barbara Peavey, who is a third generation owner of the farm, "just to be small part of it...it's just great...it just warms your heart."

The corn maze will be open each weekend in Corinna through the first weekend in November from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The farm also offers hay rides and a bounce pit for kids.
