PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Portland is facing a charge of arson after police say he started several fires in his duplex.
Firefighters and police were called to a home on Freeman street around 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. When officers got on scene they say Michael Irving was standing at the door, saying the rescue crews weren't needed.
They noticed, however, that smoke was pouring out of the home.
Irving was escorted from the building and fire crews knocked down a number of fires that had been set in his half of the duplex.
No one was injured.
