BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- After years of planning and construction, the Maine Army National guard has a new facility to train future soldiers.

On Friday, the ceremonial ribbon was cut at the new Regional Training Institute. Lt. Col. Dwaine Drummond said the facility had to be constructed in two phases because of the cost of the project. It can house up to 100 people at one time, but, there is classroom space available for more students. Drummond said the facility will train people in a wide range of military skills.

"The Maine Army National Guard is kind of starved for new facilities over the past 15 years or 20 years, and we've been able to crack the code and we really look forward to getting these state of the art facilities to really help prepare our soldiers for future deployments and to be the best professional soldiers that they can," Drummond said.

Drummond said people from all across the country will be able to use this facility.
