PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The wind made for the perfect storm through the harbor near DiMillo's, which is why boaters secured extra lines in preparation for some heavy waves.

By high tide at 11:30am Monday, the surf was already crashing up over the breakwater, and that was hours before Sandy was set to make landfall. Most people in that area are used to hunkering down for storms by now, but the wind direction made things tricky.

We spoke to a few boat owners who said they would bear through it and stay the night on their house boats -- unless things got really dicey -- but so far, Sandy is much like any other big nor'easter.
