LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The veterans benefits system is constantly changing, and can be difficult to navigate. In Lewiston, veterans received some direction at a fair on Saturday.
Organized by the Maine Military Community Network, about 45 local and state organizations sent representatives to Lewiston High School, where more than 200 veterans learned more about available benefits.
Veterans learned about benefits for health care, education, counseling, employment, and recreation.
According to Rich Oberg, organizer from the Maine Military Community Network, this is the first time the fair has come to Lewiston.
Oberg said any veteran who would like to be connected with participating organizations, but was unable to attend the event on Saturday, can contact his or her local veteran office. Locations are listed on the Maine Bureau of Veterans Services website.
