PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police have made an arrest in a fire they say was intentionally set in Portland Saturday afternoon.

Police say 34-year-old Joshua Welch has been arrested and charged with arson.  They say Welch is accused of setting fire to a Veranda Street home.

Apparently Welch tossed a burning item into the home around 4 p.m. Saturday.  Police say there were no injuries, and the fire was knocked down pretty quickly.  There was little damage to the building.

That fire happened shortly after a different one on Avalon Street. There were no injuries in that case and fire crews knocked down the flames pretty quickly. No word on the extent of the damage.
