BELFAST, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- It is Thanksgiving week which means this Friday is Black Friday. To try and get people into some of the mom and pop shops, this Saturday is Small Business Saturday.

Belfast is one community that will be participating in Small Business Saturday. The executive director of Our Town Belfast Breanna Pinkham Bebb said this is not just an alternative to Black Friday, but it can bring in money to local restaurants and businesses and keep the downtown area strong and vibrant.

"We see downtown as the heart of our community so we need these businesses to succeed and to be able to offer jobs to local people. So the more we spend locally the more success our local businesses have," Pinkham Bebb said.

Pinkham Bebb said more than 70 businesses and restaurants in Belfast will be participating and offering some sort of sale or discount for Small Business this Saturday.
