WATERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Tis the season of giving. A time to help out those less fortunate.
In the Waterville and Augusta area, the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, has been doing that for more than 60-years. This year donations for it's Christmas Box program are down.
While the slow economy is playing a part in that there are some unique circumstances this year that are also having an impact. The agency was expecting to receive donations from two organizations in New York and New Jersey that were hit hard by superstorm Sandy.
"They've not only been affected physically but they've had to pull their resources into their own community first. That's understandable, but unfortunately it's trickled down and I don't think we'll be able to expect anything from those resources this year", said Cristen Sawyer, Christmas Program Director.
If you'd like to donate you can drop by the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers on Silver Street in Waterville. You can also visit their website for more information and the wish list.
