SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - As shoppers flock to the stores this Christmas season criminals are also out plying their trade among the bustling crowds.
Police in Scarborough are now trying to track down two men who used phony $20 bills to purchase electronics on Black Friday at Walmart.
The crooks certainly picked a good night to try to get away with it. The store was packed and the cashiers were very busy.
Investigators were able to get some surveillance photos of the two men inside the store, including pictures of them handing the cashier the fake bills.
"I'm not familiar with the two people based on the footage that i saw from Walmart's surveillance. One of the associates in the store had mentioned they recognized them as being in the store before so i don't know if they're local or not", said Scarborough Police Officer Andrew Flynn.
Scarborough Police asking anyone with information about this case to give them a call. Once they pull together all of their evidence they'll hand it over the Secret Service. That is the federal agency that investigates cases involving fake currency.
