PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Saturday we will be throughout the state of Maine for our annual Coats and Toys for Kids campaign. Last year, the campaign collected more than 30-thousand coats.

Once they are cleaned-- the next step is getting the coats to families who need them this winter. On NEWS CENTER At 5 we talked with James Labossiere From the Salvation Army about the process of what happens to the coats (once donated) and how, if you need one, you can get one. Watch the video above to find out more or click here: COATS AND TOYS FOR KIDS

Coats & Toys for Kids Day is this Saturday, December 1.

We'd love to see you out and about. If you're on Twitter or Instagram post how you're getting involved using the hastag: #MECoats4Kids

Or come to our Facebook page and post a picture or video with what you're doing.

Please bring a new or gently-used children's coat or a new, unwrapped toy to donate. These coats help many families keep their children warm through the long Maine winter, and the toys will help make a happy Christmas for many children throughout the state. This campaign is a success because of your tremendous generosity every year. Our deepest thanks.
