AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Maine Forest Service says they've found more than a gross of different spider species on Maine's tallest mountain.
The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry carried out the arachnid survey.
Of the 145 species found, 5 were previously unidentified. Those five species are unique to the northeast and have also been found on Mt. Washington and in Quebec.
In somewhat reassuring news, none of the 145 species is poisonous. Maine has no native poisonous spiders.
