HAMPDEN, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Students at Hampden Academy have been learning what it is like to work in the music business because they are making a CD as part of their music class.
Band Director Patrick Michaud said students had to create their own songs then they could record them in a professional studio. But Michaud said there was more work to the creating of the CD than just writing songs. He wanted to get students involved in other ways by trying to advertise the CD and the event and learn how to produce music.
"Sometimes you get certain students that aren't maybe based, they're not gonna be involved with the band or choral program, but they want involvement somehow, so this is one way to connect with them," Michaud said.
Michaud said once all of the expenses are paid off, the proceeds from the CD will go towards local charities to help families in need.
