LIMERICK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Limerick Supermarket is trying to figure out who stole the giving tree from outside the store Friday night.

Surveillance footage from just after 11:30 Friday night shows someone getting out of their car, and then less than a minute later they re-appear towing the tree.

Employees at the Limerick Supermarket say the tree was stolen with the tags for the toy donations still attached. Organizers used a list to try to replace them, but they are worried some of the children may fall through the cracks and not get gifts.

Store employees are spreading the word to customers, hoping that someone will recognize the vehicle or the thief.

If you have any information about the stolen tree, you're asked to call the York County Sheriff's Office at (207) 324-1111.
