It's been a pretty tame day across Maine, with plenty of clouds mixing with some breaks of sun. Our break from precipitation will be a short one however, as another low pressure system will move our way from our west over the next 24 hours. Mild air will come with the storm, so expect any snow developing tomorrow morning to change to rain first along the coast, with rain-snow line moving north through the morning and afternoon. Due to the rain, the only place I expect accumulating snow will be in the western mountains and in northernmost communities, where 3-6" could fall by late Friday night.
Plenty of instability expected Saturday with the lingering low, so expect clouds along with rain and snow showers passing through.
Good news for Christmas travelers; Sunday, Monday and Christmas Day look pretty tame with a nice amount of sunshine all three days.
By the way, the official start of winter (Winter Solstice) arrives Friday morning at 6:12. Happy Winter to you!
