BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Some people might be getting ready to do some last minute Christmas shopping and getting those gifts under the tree. And once again Hands of Hope is giving out toys for families in need.
Director, Kathy Harvey said this is the 10th year that Hands of Hope has done this. Harvey said about 450 families came to the airport mall Thursday to pick up toys for their family.
Nick Pinkham was one of many people in line on Thursday. He said it means a lot to him to receive these gifts so he can see the joy on his two year old sons face on Christmas morning.
"It helps out a lot around the holiday season, cause he gets gifts that I can't provide for him, especially around this time of year because work cuts back, because I'm on a seasonal job. So it helps us out a lot on the holiday season for him and makes him so happy when he opens the gifts on Christmas morning," Pinkham said.
Kathy Harvey said bikes were a popular gift request this year and families received baskets full of paper products that people cannot get with food stamps.
