(AP) - A big winter storm is heading for northern New England, with snowfalls of up to 18 inches predicted for much of the region.
A storm already wreaking havoc in the South and Midwest is expected to move into Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine beginning late Wednesday afternoon and continuing overnight.
The heaviest snow is expected in a southwest-to-northeast band extending from southern and central Vermont across most of New Hampshire and into Maine.
Lighter snow is expected in northwestern Vermont, and seacoast areas of southeastern New Hampshire and southwestern Maine may see a mix of precipitation.
