Saco police find baggies of cocaine after traffic stop
SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - After a traffic stop, Saco police arrested a Massachusetts man on drug trafficking charges.
Saco police say that on Wednesday night, they stopped a vehicle on Jeannette Avenue in Old Orchard Beach. They say when they stopped the car, a passanger, 43-year-old Jerry Lee Adams, of Hyde Park, Massachusetts fled from the vehicle.
Back up officers followed the Adam's footprints and, after a struggle, he was placed into custody.
Saco police say afterwards, they found a back pack containing what appeared to be crack cocaine in plastic baggies, with a street value of $5,000. They also found a digital scale in the back pack.
Police have contacted the Maine Drug Enforcement Agent for assistance. In addition to the drug trafficking charges, Adams was also charged with refusing to submit to arrest.
Police say Adams was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred, Maine where he is awaiting a court appearance scheduled for March 13, 2013 at 8:30 AM.
Saco police added that the reason for the traffic stop was that the female driver "had conditions of release and was subject to random search and testing for alcohol and drugs."
