AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Education, energy and domestic violence are at the top of Republican Gov. Paul LePage's agenda as Maine lawmakers prepare to return to work.

For majority Democrats, jobs and strengthening the state's economy are the buzzwords. They've already announced a special committee whose members will get to work after the Legislature reconvenes Tuesday.

But the state budget is bound to draw lawmakers' attention when they return. They must first deal with immediate cuts to balance the books before taking up a two-year budget that faces a $128 million revenue shortfall.

Other issues that are likely to come up in the session include gun violence prevention and health care. Democrats want to take a fresh look at changes Republicans made in health insurance laws in 2011. Democrats opposed those changes.
