AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- 40,000 pounds of food rolled into Good Shepherd Food Bank on Tuesday thanks to a donation by Ocean State Job Lot.

A tractor trailer truck dropped the food off at the Auburn Warehouse this afternoon. It was just one of 60 trucks that will be distributing $1.25-million worth of food throughout New England and New York.

Ocean State Job Lot raised the money for the food through their annual "Three Square Meals" program, in which customers at their stores could donate a dollar at the registers.

A spokesperson for the company says in the 10 years they've been raising money for food pantries, this has been the best outpouring of support they've seen from their customers. Kristen Miale with Good Shepherd, says the need is so great that even though this is a big shipment, it will only last a day for all of the pantries they cover.
