PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - It's been a busy start to the new year both in Washington and Maine politics, Governor Lepage just laid out his plans to pay back hospital debt. And just last week he revealed details of his 2014-2015 budget.

Our political analysts Phil Harriman and Ethan Strimling stopped in on the MORNING REPORT to offer a little perspective on all the goings on.

They discussed LePage 's 2014-2015 budget with $6.2B balanced through reductions in municipal aid, eliminating the homestead deduction, and wiping out corporate welfare to retail business.

LePage also wants to pay back the hospitals by issuing a revenue bond worth $200M to be paid back with a newly negotiated liquor contract.

And as part of this package, the Governor is also  proposing a 100 million dollar facilities bond to build new corrections facilities in Windham.

He says that would be paid for by efficiencies in the system.
