WEST PARIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A home is destroyed in West Paris... But quick work by fire fighters managed to keep the fire from spreading in the wind.

Fire fighters were called to a blaze on Maple Street shortly after 5pm Sunday, where they found a home completely engulfed in flames.

A West Paris firefighter we spoke with said that the wind was howling when he got there, and embers from the flames were spreading to a nearby street.

So crews from neighboring towns sprayed down homes and looked for traveling hot spots while the fire was knocked down.

It took about two and a half hours.

There were no injuries and no one was home at the time.

The homeowner is staying with family for the time being.

The fire is not suspicious, but investigators from the State Fire Marshal's office will try to determine a cause.
