RANGELEY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Police have arrested three people and say they face charges connected to a suspected heroin trafficking ring in the town of Rangeley.
On Monday, police searched a home on Main Street and a room at a local motel. They seized $8,200, 157 bags of heroin, 20 grams of crack which had been packaged for sale, cocaine, Oxycodone and amphetamine capsules.
Arrested in connection with the drugs are Tyler McFarland, 31, of Gray; Jami Driscoll, 23, of Auburn; and Michael Chandler, 33, of Philadelphia.
All three face charges of trafficking heroin and police do expect to file other charges.
McFarland had recently been released from jail and is on probation for a baseball bat attack in 2007.
State Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland issued a media release Tuesday saying that Maine State Drug Enforcement Agents, Rangeley Police, U.S. Border Patrol Agents, Franklin County Deputies and State Police have been investigating the alleged ring for months. They acted this week after learning that Chandler would be shepherding heroin and cocaine from Philadelphia.
