(NEWS CENTER) - More than 40,000 Central Maine Power and Bangor Hydro customers were without power as of 4 p.m. Thursday.
Crews were out restoring power to customers all day Thursday.
The high winds and heavy rain not only caused widespread outages, but knocked down trees onto power lines, causing some traffic problems.
Part of Doughty Road in North Yarmouth was closed for several hours Thursday because a tree feel down on a power line, spreading it across the road.
Route 111 in Alfred was also closed as of 4 p.m. Thursday at the intersection with Kennebunk Pond Road due to downed power lines.
Maine Department of Transportation officials said the Route 4 bridge was closed in Madrid due to an ice jam on the road.
The West Kingfield Road bridge in Kingfield was also closed Thursday evening due to minor flooding on the road.
