Jay police searching for dangerous man

JAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Jay police are searching for a man they say is armed and dangerous.

Police say after they stopped a truck on Route 122 near Beans Corner in Jay, Michael Gatcomb ran from the truck and into the woods. After an initial search with Jay and Wilton Police, officers called in help from Maine State Police, Franklin County Sheriff Deputies, Farmington Police, and Border Patrol.

Officers say Gatcomb was spotted twice and then fled back into the woods. However, as of Saturday afternoon, police say Gatcomb is no longer in the woods, and is believed to still be in the Jay area with people that he knows. 

Gatcomb is wanted out of Franklin County for Domestic Assault and Violation of Conditions of release. Police say he is also wanted out of Kennebec County for Failure to stop for Officer, Criminal Speed and Violation of Conditional Release. Gatcomb is currently on Bail conditions for felony theft.

Officials say he may be armed and considered dangerous. Anyone with any information regarding Michael Gatcomb's whereabouts is asked to contact Jay Police Department at 897-6766.
