ELLSWORTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- For the second straight year musicians in the Ellsworth area are getting ready to tune up their instruments for a good cause. They are once again taking part in a benefit concert organized by the Ellsworth Knights of Columbus.
'To Warm A Winter's Night II' will feature area blues artists, a capella groups and dancers. All proceeds raised from the concert will go to support the Washington Hancock Community Agency's 'Thaw Fund,' which helps hundreds of families in Downeast Maine with their heating bills each winter. The THAW fund provides heating aid specifically to Mainers who do not qualify for federal heating assistance programs.
Officials say this year demand on the fund has been great. For the past three weeks it has been out of money.
Concert organizers say 'To Warm A Winter's Night II' will feature something for all fans of music.
"If you like a capella choirs doing some traditional numbers you're going to have Even Song. If you want to get out and dance to Rock a'Billie... and the Grand encourages dancing upfront you can do that," said Chris Whalley, who is the grand knight of the Ellsworth Knights of Columbus, "We have a celtic Ceilidh band and we have some wonderful blues and Bobbi Lane...a solo guitar vocalist...as I've said the range of talent is something for everybody...it's a really amazing night."
If you would like to purchase tickets for 'To Warm A Winter's Night II' or learn more about the event you can stop by the box office at the Grand Auditorium or call (207) 667-8288. The concert will be taking place at the auditorium next Saturday February 16, 2013. The show will start at 7:30 p.m.
