HOLLIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- An Hollis family is homeless after a fast moving fire swept through their two-story home Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out shortly after one o'clock at a home located on 24 Mason Drive, just off of Route 117.

Firefighters from more than six neighboring communities responded to help fight the blaze. Firefighters believe the fire started on the front porch and spread throughout the home quickly.

Two adults and a child got out safely and no one was injured. Fire officials say the biggest issue was getting water to fight the fire, the nearest hydrant was five miles away.

'Our biggest issue today was just water supply, we have a rural water supply, lack of manpower during the day  so it took a while for everybody to get here,' said Jason Johnson, Hollis Fire Chief.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall's Office, the homeowner does have insurance.
