Portsmouth man arrested for solicitation of a minor

PORTSMOUTH, NH (NEWS CENTER) - Portsmouth police say they've arrested a now former Portsmouth school department employee for solicitation of a female under 16.

Police say 34-year-old Kenneth Kimber attempted to solicit the young woman online sometime between February 4, 2013 and February 11, 2013. At the time Kimber was an employee of the Portsmouth school department's IT staff. The school fired Kimber on February 13, 2013, and he was arrested on Friday February 15th.

Police say the school has been cooperating in the investigation. Police also say that the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has also provided assistance with the investigation.

Kimber is being charged with three felony counts of "Certain Uses of a Computer Prohibited" and five felony counts of "Indecent Exposure."
He is being held on $5,000 cash and $15,000 personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned in the Portsmouth Court on February 19th.
