Freeport man critically injured in snowmobile crash

JOHNSON MT. TWP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Freeport man was critically injured Friday evening when his snowmobile went off a trail in Johnson Mt. Twp.

In a news release from the Maine Warden Service, spokesperson Caroline Hailey said 56-year-old Robin Lowell from Freeport was driving his snowmobile around 6:30 p.m. Friday when it went off the trail on a corner and struck several trees.

Lowell was taken to Jackman Region Health Center, and was subsequently flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Hailey said Lowell sustained rib and arm injuries in the crash, and he is listed in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation by the Maine Warden Service.
