HARRISON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office are working to determine what sparked the fire that destroyed a home in Harrison.
A person driving by the home at 22 Front Street first called rescuers shortly before 7:00 PM Sunday.
Firefighters estimate the home is just 40 feet from the town office.
Crews from half a dozen neighboring towns were called in to help keep the flames from spreading.
No one was home at the time of the fire. The Harrison Fire Department says the homeowners had just left to pick up some groceries when the fire started in the kitchen.
There were no injuries. The family living at the home is staying with other family members in town.
