TROY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The tactical team was ready to take him to jail, but instead he was rushed to the hospital.
State Police Detectives went to a home on Barker Road in the town of Troy Wednesday afternoon. They were planning to arrest a man there on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The man, whose identity is being withheld at this time, refused to answer the door.
Detectives called the State Police tactical team and as the team arrived, they heard a short from inside.
Police say the man had shot himself with a .22 caliber rifle.
No officers were involved with the shooting.
The man has been taken to a hospital.
