TROY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The tactical team was ready to take him to jail, but instead he was rushed to the hospital.

State Police Detectives went to a home on Barker Road in the town of Troy Wednesday afternoon. They were planning to arrest a man there on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.

The man, whose identity is being withheld at this time, refused to answer the door.

Police say the man had shot himself with a .22 caliber rifle.

No officers were involved with the shooting.

The man has been taken to a hospital.
