PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The annual Maine Boatbuilders Show took place over the weekend in Portland. And it gave some high school students a chance to compete for a scholarship to train in the fields of Automotive and Marine Technology -- an industry projected to grow in Maine.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Maintenance and Repair workers rank among the 30 occupations with the largest projected job openings in the nation between 2010 and 2020. Motorboat technicians fall in that category, and require special training in the field.

The 2nd annual Marine Troubleshooting Competition tested students' skills in Marine Technology. The winning teams received $1000 scholarship awards courtesy of UTI and Portland Yacht Services, which can be used at any Universal Technical Institute campus.
