(NEWS CENTER) For 12 years, Tom Allen represented Maine's first district in Congress. He has written a new book called "Dangerous Convictions" about the dysfunction in Washington. Allen goes In The Arena with Pat Callaghan to talk about it.
In the book, Allen places most of the blame on Republican extremism. He discusses what he believes has caused the widening gap, and why members of Maine's Congressional delegation have a history of working together, despite party and ideological differences. Allen also talks about the difficulty Maine Democrats have had with recent major elections and whether he has any interest in running for governor.
Allen is the president and CEO of the American Association of Publishers.
