ALFRED, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Maine State Police are investigating a crash on Route 202 in Alfred Sunday afternoon.
Trooper Matthew Williams says five people were injured in the crash. Everyone is expected to survive.
Trooper Williams says that around 3:30PM a Honda Elantra was operating erratically as it traveled west on 202, swerving from the breakdown lane into the on-coming lane.
Several cars avoided the sedan, but it eventually slammed head-on into a Subaru Forester.
Four people in the Elantra and one woman in the Forester were taken to various hospitals.
Williams says alcohol is not likely a factor, he says it's more likely a case of distracted driving.
The road was closed down for about an hour during the investigation and clean-up.
Trooper Williams says if the crash is the result of distracted driving, police may press charges.
