SEARSPORT, Maine (AP) - Developers have pulled the plug on a proposed 14-story-high liquid propane storage tank in the town of Searsport.
A spokeswoman for Denver-based DCP Midstream said Tuesday that the company is no longer interested in pursuing construction of the 22.7-million-gallon tank.
Town officials said they were awaiting official word that the application had been withdrawn.
The project was controversial in and around Searsport.
Some neighboring towns expressed worries about the risk of the tank exploding or catching fire, or its potential impact on traffic, public safety and tourism.
