AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - With a little more than half of the session over, dozens of bills in the Maine State House have become law.

But hundreds of bills are still in the process and the real heavy lifting is yet to come. Lawmakers must pass a state budget and resolve a $484 million Medicaid debt to the state's hospitals before the scheduled adjournment in mid-June.

More than 50 bills have been sent to Gov. Paul LePage. He has signed a little over half of them and let the rest become law without his signature.

The new laws range from allowing additional baby eel licenses for Native American tribes to giving motorists stopped with expired licenses a pass to get home or to a motor vehicles bureau for renewal.
