DEXTER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A 17 year old boy is in police custody after authorities in Piscataquis County say he stole three vehicles and went on a joy ride overnight, damaging, property, and vehicles along a stretch of road between Dexter and Sangerville. 911 dispatchers received the first calls of damaged cars, mailboxes, and lawns along Silvers Mill Road around 2 o'clock Thursday morning. Two hours later they got the call of a stolen pickup truck. Investigators say the juvenile then stole and damaged two more vehicles, including another pickup truck that he crashed into a telephone pole. A neighbor who said he witnessed the teen get out of the truck, told NEWS CENTER he saw the boy grab a gun before running into some nearby woods. When Authorities caught him however, they say he did not have a weapon. He was surrounded and arrested at 8:40 a.m. The investigation is ongoing. The Piscataquis County Sheriffs Department, Dexter Police, Dover Police, State Police, and Game Wardens worked together on this case.
