ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Black Bear hockey team spent Maine Day hard at work. Players cleaned out their locker rooms and scrubbing the Alfond offices and weight room, but had plenty of fun in the process.
The team's freshmen got the duty of wiping floors in the weight room. But they all say they know it's part of the tradition. "We're all team players. Everyone's getting better doing this," says Ben Hutton.
Players also say they know how fortunate they are to play in Orono, and they want to make sure they take care of their facilities so they'll last a long time.
"It's important because you know so many people come through this locker room," says junior Jon Swavely, "It's one of those things where it's a legacy we have to continue. I mean, so many greats came through this place so it's up to us to keep it nice for the people who come next."
