GREENLAND, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) - This weekend police officers from across the Seacoast are heading to Washington, DC to pay tribute to fallen police Chief Michael Maloney.

There have been several tributes to the chief since his passing a little more than a year ago, but the one next week in our nation's capitol will be the biggest yet as his name is added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

As part of the tradition the Greenland delegation will be bringing with them a door from a cruiser signed by officers, relatives and friends of Chief Maloney. On it a small picture of the chief, his cruiser number 103 and his call number 260. All 11 members of the Greenland Police Department, except for one part time officer, will be making the trek to honor him.

"This is kind of the culmination of everything that happened. He's getting recognized as he should be on a national level and we're all going down together to support each other, but there will be those difficult moments of grieving and reliving it ", said Greenland Chief Tara Laurent.

The ceremony adding Chief Maloney's name is set for Wednesday. Other events in our nation's capitol include a candlelight vigil Monday night and a New Hampshire night Tuesday hosted by the state's congressional delegation.
